How is the prospect of the Helicopter Industry in Indonesia?

Tangerang, Melayutoday.com, – following is an explanation by Capt. Imanuddin Yunus, S.H., M.H., as a Helicopter Pilot practitioner and as the Chairman of the Indonesian Helicopter Pilots Association (APHI) at the event Hexia 2025

How is the future prospect of the Helicopter Industri in our country?

First. We must see and think with a mindset that Indonesia as an archipelago, and even as the largest archipelago in the world, with more than 17,000 islands. We are so much different compared
with neighboring countries. We are not a country that consists of the main land. As mentioned by the Minister of Transportation last time, air transportation must be able to reach 3T (Terluar – Tertinggal – Terdepan),the area that is Outermost – under developed – and Frontier. So that the prospect of Aviation in Indonesia is not only wide body jumbo jet airplanes, but also medium aircraft and light aircraft, including Helicopter.

How is the hot issue about policies and regulation from the Goverment?

The government has issued many policies that are deregulated, so that it is hoped that stakeholders and Aviation industry will be able to fill the chance of opportunity, expanding the aviation industry. And this must be responded to by industry. Especially Helicopters.

What are diffrent between Helicopters and Airlines?

Helicopters are designed and created to be able to carry out missions that cannot be done by airplanes. Helicopter is the aircraft that was created for multi mission, multi function and multi purposes, night and day, 24/7. This capability has not been utilized
in Indonesia. However, the ability of helicopters as multi-function transport has not been maximized. In tourism, there are still many tourism destinations that are still difficult to reach, and this solution is by utilization of Helicopter.

Whi is The fungsion in logistic support?

For logistic support and transportation for oil exploration and exploitation activities on shore and offshore, remote areas, deep jungles, it is very much needed to support them by Helicopter flights. Because 2/3 of Indonesia’s territory is waters, there are a lot of oil and gas exploration activities. Plate forms, rigs and barges require helicopter transportation support. The exploration and exploitation of oil and gas, which is one of the Nation income, needs the support of helicopter flights.

Capt. Yunus add it , refer to Article 34 of our Constitution, there is a Constitutional Mandate which states that all people have the right to have health facilities. The question is, what about the people in the remote are, deep in the jungle, Papua and Kalimantan. Not like the people in the city.

In other countries condition comparasion service helicopters?

In the neighboring countries such as Malaysia, Australia, there is a flight called Helicopter Flying Doctor, providing medical service for them, for the people (Indigenous), the Helicopter daily
flying in the jungle, providing Health care for them. This is also done by other countries. South Africa, China, Canada and many other countries.

And this is , once again, is the Mandate of Our Constitution?

There’s another kind Helicopter transportation, which is Standby Medevac Helicopter by Toll Road. This is a Helicopter Service to support if any accident occurred on toll road.

We often see that during evacuation after an accident, traffic congestion is the main problem
(that must be solved) when evacuating victims to the hospital. With an existence of stand by medevac Helicopter by the road , it will enhance the profile of The Toll Road by providing additional
helicopter Medevac service.

With this exhibition event, the industry is expected will be able to see all these opportunities and be able to expand and develop the Helicopter industry in Indonesia. ( hrn)
